Installation of a permanent pedestrian crossing near to the Bellingham Way entrance to our estate.

As part of the planning application / agreement for the Panattoni development near to our estate, a number of road crossing improvements are being developed.

The current two-way lights by our Bellingham Way entrance will be in place until Tuesday 2nd May.

The installation of the new road surface on the approach to the crossing will be over night on Friday 28th April into early hours of Saturday 29th April. This is due to the proximity of the works to the roundabout on New Hythe Lane and must be undertaken when traffic is minimal. The night work will commence at 8pm and take approx 5hrs.

No work will be undertaken over the bank holiday weekend, other than the Friday night. This is to minimise the disruption caused to the public.

The high friction surfacing and white lining will then be undertaken at night on Tuesday 2nd May. This will commence at 8pm again but should take around 4 hrs to complete. We will then be off the carriageway.

On both nights, our surfacing team will keep noise to a minimum, however there will be audible alarms when plant is moving. These cannot be deactivated for safety reasons. The rest of the operations should create no more noise than the heavy goods vehicles that use the road.

The night workings are not ideal for residents but is unfortunately a streetworks requirement.

The crossing will then still be run on the temporary lights until the permeant signals are installed which will be by the end of May.
