LPRA Co-Chair Christine Belton-Brown met with Hyde Property Manager Gary Goulbourne, TMBC\u2019s Waste Contract Officers Alison Solis and Phil Outram on the 10th January, as part of our efforts to improve our neighbourhood, especially around waste management.<\/div>\n

Recycling is an important way to reduce waste and protect the environment. However, in order for recycling efforts to be effective, it is crucial that we all follow proper recycling procedures and avoid contaminating the communal bins.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

To ensure the refuse team can carry out collections can we please stick to the following guidelines:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Make sure to properly sort out your recyclables. There are separate bins for paper and cardboard, so please don\u2019t put anything else in these bins. Plastic bottles, clean food trays and tubs, cans and tins, glass bottles and jars, empty aerosols and clean kitchen foil should be placed in the mixed recycling bins. Remember-no plastic bags in any of the recycling bins!<\/div>\n

Please take a look and follow the recycling sign on the bin. Do not mix recyclables, as this makes them un-processable and therefore cannot be collected.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Please avoid placing items in the bin sheds that are not accepted such as household items, for example mattresses and broken furniture.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

No bags to be left on the floor, as this can attract pests.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We have noticed that large 1100 litre bins have attracted more dumping of household items, which is why we will not be returning to these at the moment.<\/div>\n

Hyde Housing will be aiming to replace the locks with self closing types, and replacing all non-working lights to make the Bin Stores areas more secure, clean and easy to use for everyone.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I would like to personally thank all of you for your input towards this, and once the locks are changed and lights restored, it will become easier moving forward.
